Fong Mei for Sunday dim sum!

So excited to have Christina and Rafaël in Anwerp for a few days! Sunday Rafaël had to be in Brussels, so Christina, Koen and I planned a day in the city.

First things first – dim sum in Chinatown at Fong Mei. The first time I every partook in Sunday dim sum brunch was with Christina and Koen at Jing Fong in New York City’s Chinatown. So it seems fitting for our Sunday in Antwerp!

Koen and I live in the city center, which means normally we can walk everywhere. Christina was a bit under the weather this trip, so after dim sum we wanted to take a tram to the south so we could enjoy the sunshine with drinks rather than walking….and we accidentally ended up in Linkeroever! Linkeroever is on the other side of the Schelde where Koen and I have never been. You can enjoy a really beautiful view of Antwerp from the park. We came to the consensus that it’s a bit like being in Jersey and enjoying a view of Manhattan haha. We decided to stay and have our drinks with a view of the city. Then we headed back on foot through the underground tunnel to the city center.

For dinner, Rafaël was able to join us. In the end we decided on Tropicos, a Mexican-Brazilian restaurant close by our apartment. Why the two types of cuisine? Before the restaurant opened 25 years ago, the owners had a Mexican restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. So when deciding to open a restaurant in Antwerp, they combined the two together. The past few times I’ve always opted for the Brazilian menu, but I was very hungry and ordered three of the Mexican starters as my main!
