Het Gebaar
When Koen and I hit the milestone of 9 years together, we decided to celebrate with lunch at the Michelin star restaurant Het Gebaar, from Roger Van Damme. I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the best meal I’ve ever had. My mouth is literally watering as I’m typing thinking about this delicious lunch. I dream of the steak tartare…
And now I can’t wait to go back in November to celebrate with my parents for my mom’s birthday!
We had an early reservation, and were the first ones in the restaurant
Bread and Butter
Amuse Bouche: Smoked fish with mousse from filet d’anvers, plus other foams and creams
Starter: Iberico ham with candied olives and tomato compote
My main: Steak tartare with micro-vegetables and foie gras cream served with fries
Koen’s Main: Brill with hopshoots, cauliflower puree, North Sea shrimp, and vongole
My Dessert: Soleil, a ring from vanilla panna cotta with accents of exotic fruit and white chocolate
Koen’s Dessert: Botanique, a sweet garden with milk chocolate and accents of hazelnut, passion fruit, mango and lime

I’m American food-lover, too and will be visiting Antwerp in September (along with Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan and Barcelona). Found your blog by accident, but I must say, it’s been very informative and interesting to read! Especially love this post.
