Finished! Finally finished! After three months of no free time – researching and writing in the evenings after work and on my days off – my thesis is completed! One step closer to my MBA!

The Jane
Finally, finally, finally! We finally were able to secure a table at The Jane! The impossible became possible! The Jane is the 74th best restaurant in the world for 2017 and holds 2 Michelin stars. You can only reserve 3 months in advance and the opening is posted at 8:00AM. After two years of trying the waiting list we were able to go!

Exploring Sleep Mode: The Art of the Screensaver
When I found out our friend Rafaël had an exhibition in Rotterdam at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Koen and I planned a trip to see Chris and Hannah so we could all go together. Definitely worth visiting if you’re planning a trip to Rotterdam in the next months – we had so much fun!

Macon Beer Company
My parents have lived in Macon, Georgia for a few years now, so with this visit they were able to show us around and take us to some of their favorite places.

Carnaby Street in Soho
While in London, I did a lot of exploring in the City of Westminster. What is the City of Westminster? It’s an inner-city London borough, but also holds city status. Confused? Me, too. Almost any London site you can think of is in City of Westminster.

St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London
The last few times I’ve been in London have been for work, not really for sight-seeing. But this time Koen needed to go London for work, so I tagged along and was able to do some exploring – including the neighborhood where we stayed – King’s Cross, while Koen was in meetings and conferences.

Het Gebaar
For Koen’s birthday we celebrated at one of our favorite restaurants, Het Gebaar. Het Gebaar is a Michelin star restaurant by Roger Van Damme serving haute Belgian cuisine and magical, beautiful desserts. At the end Koen received a surprise from the restaurant! Our waitress brought out a giant cake with a special dessert for Koen on top! Continue reading

Daily morning coffee in Harajuku at The Roastery by Nozy Coffee
We were in Japan for 3 weeks, the first week in Tokyo, a week of travel, then the last week again in Tokyo. The first week we stayed in east Tokyo in the neighborhood of Ginza, so we wanted to have a different experience for our last week – Harajuku in west Tokyo!

Relaxing in my yukata, close to the garden
For a small getaway before heading back to Tokyo, Koen and I spent the night at Hoshi, the world’s second oldest hotel, founded in 718 and operated by the same family for 46 generations.

Approaching Kikunoi
Dining at the 3 star kaiseki restaurant Kikunoi in Kyoto for our 8th year wedding anniversary was a highlight of the trip. Kaiseki is Japanese haute cuisine, and a big influence of the Michelin tasting menus we know today. A kaiseki dinner is made up of many courses (our’s had 12) that change monthly with the season.
