STHLM Brunch Club

We made it to Stockholm! After 2 days on the road we finally arrived to our new home in Sweden!

Okay, but like I mentioned in my last post, we still need to make the drive back to Belgium and then fly to Stockholm to finally be residents in our new city! At least the trip back we only have two small suitcases, so it’s safe to park our car. So for the drive back we’ll revisit Copenhagen and spend a few days there, then overnight in Hamburg, before ending in Antwerp. Exciting!

But before we can leave we wanted to try one of the restaurants in our neighborhood for brunch and were happy to find STHLM Brunch Club! I love all day brunch places and was excited to try it out before hitting the road. We were a bit nervous we’d have to wait (no reservations) but I think 10 on a weekday is not their busiest time 🙂 Brunch was fantastic, as was the bottomless coffee!

Stockholm: Greasy Spoon

Greasy Spoon

I love a good brunch. Normally when Koen and I travel, rather having to go out for two meals, we generally enjoy a nice big brunch around 11ish. We looked up places close to our AirBnB and found Greasy Spoon, the Odenplan location. I was so excited when I saw the specials for this week – Chicken and Waffles! So of course we had to go!

London: Rabbit

Rabbit

I love visiting Chelsea whenever I’m in London – so many great restaurants as well as my favorite museum, the Victoria & Albert. This trip we made reservations at Rabbit. From their website:

“Our ever changing menu champion’s local and wild British seasonal produce. We use all things wild, foraged, and locally grown, including sustainable livestock from the Gladwin’s own family farm in West Sussex. Plus we have a range of English Wines from our own vineyard.

Dishes are presented as “small plates” designed for sharing or to enjoy individually. Our team will guide you through the menu to help you make a balanced selection of dishes.”

The food was really delicious and I loved that we were able to share all of the plates. Standouts were the smoked butter and the partridge nuggets.

The Lighterman

For our last day, we started for brunch at The Lighterman on Granary Square. If you read my blog often, you’ll recognize The Lighterman – I always try to come here for breakfast if I’m in London. Great location and delicious food!

London with Mom

Brunch with Mom

To celebrate my mom’s birthday early, we headed to London for the day! London may seem far away from Antwerp, but by train it’s actually only a 2 hour ride! This was my mom’s first time in London, so we did a full day of sight-seeing, ending on a high note with afternoon tea at Claridge’s.

When Koen and I were in London, we visited Fergus Henderson’s restaurant St. John. If you have the opportunity to visit, you have to try their most famous dish – toasted with roasted bone marrow and parsley salad. So delicious!

Mom’s Birthday Part One: CafĂ© ImpĂ©rial

Smoked salmon and caviar

Smoked salmon and caviar

One tradition that started a few years back, is that when my mom is in town we go out for a class of champagne at CafĂ© ImpĂ©rial. It doesn’t matter what time of year, we always go to celebrate. CafĂ© ImpĂ©rial is a beautiful cafĂ© located in the Paleis op de Meir, the former Antwerp residence of Napoleon Bonaparte. So fabulously French! And this time we were lucky enough to celebrate on my mom’s actual birthday!
